Mel Ochoa is the Chief Operating Officer at Landmark Ventures, a global investment bank and strategic advisory group that specializes in technology within digital media, Internet of Things, cybersecurity, and healthcare, with cross-border transactions involving the United States, Canada, Europe, China, and Israel. At Landmark Ventures, he is responsible for internal operations, talent initiatives, and strategic projects, and is involved with producing the Social Innovation Summit. Previously, Mel served as the Senior Director of Marketing & Communications as part of the leadership team at Achievement First, a high-performing network of more than 30 K-12 public charter schools in Connecticut, New York, and Rhode Island. Prior to Achievement First, he was Vice President of Corporate Affairs and a co-founder at BridgePath, an enterprise software provider to the staffing industry that was acquired by Bullhorn. Past experience also includes work with a U.S. congressman in Washington, D.C., the Bay Area Discovery Museum, and leading consumer brands at Kraft Foods/Oscar Mayer and Schwartz Communications, a high-tech PR agency. From a civic perspective, Mel coaches New York University Leadership Fellows, sits on the Board of Advisors for WorldQuant University, and advises organizations such as Akilah Institute for Women in Africa, Teach For Haiti, and Code.org. He holds a bachelor’s degree with majors in History and Rhetoric from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MBA from the Stern School of Business at New York University, where he was a Reynolds Fellow in Social Entrepreneurship and a Consortium for Graduate Study in Management Fellow.
